Scrubby pumice and skin healing comfrey root join forces in this spicy scented bar. Designed to deeply clean and soothe hard-working hands. We like to keep a bar by the kitchen sink. Also great on calloused feet!
Scrubs away dirt from hands. Try on feet while washing in the shower. Typically a bit too rough for other areas.
Directions: Lather up and give your hard-working hands (or calloused feet) a deep cleaning.
Ingredients: Saponified oils of olive, coconut, palm (sustainably harvested), and castor, comfrey root, pumice, essential oils of lavender, bay, and cinnamon.
We include free insurance against loss, damage, or theft with every order. We'll handle the claims, too. Complete details are in our shipping policy.

Returns & Exchanges
- 30-day Return Period: We stand behind every product we make and want you to be fully satisfied. Contact us within 30 days of your purchase to initiate a return. View return instructions.
- We protect your items through the shipping process using cellulose padding and starch (not styrofoam) packing peanuts
- The cellulose wadding that we use is made from 100% recycled fibers and is a reusable and compostable paper alternative to plastic bubble wrap.
- Our packing peanuts are made from plant starch, and are certified compostable & dissolvable in water, leaving no toxic substances in soil or groundwater.
- We often pack small items in a clear bioplastic bag to keep them from getting lost within packing peanuts. These bags are made from PLA (Polylactic Acid) that is derived from plant sugars. They are certified compostable and biodegradable.
- Most products come in glass or metal containers. We use plastic only on certain products where metal is not available and glass would be hazardous.

It looks like they changed there orders forms … these unwrapped soaps used to come in 4’bars at 6.50 each to 1 order….
Now I just paid over $15 for 1 bar not realizing. I was charged more for shipping than the bar ( which I was expecting 4 bars to order)… I love this soap but the prices are ridiculous
Hi Charlene — thank you for the years of loyalty, and I'm sorry the order didn't land the way you expected. You're right that a single bar plus shipping isn't a great value, and I understand the frustration.
Here's what changed: in 2025 we moved away from fixed 4-packs and 6-packs to a '10% off any 4 or more bars' discount, so customers can mix and match scents. It works out close to the old multi-pack pricing when you bundle, though a single bar on its own does end up pricey once shipping is added.
I've sent you a note directly with an idea for making this right. Thanks for sticking with us.

I love this soap and keep it by my kitchen sink. I love how it cleans my hands! The grit feels great, and the soap is not drying to my hands. Plus it doesn’t melt in the dish like so many other natural soaps!
Island Thyme has some of the best products. I recently purchased my bars of soap from them when visited Orcas Island. Their products are all made with the best organic ingredients. My favorite is the. Sea scrub soap of its refreshing scent with super exfoliator, this bar contains ground loofah which is a plus for me. I’m plan to be a lifetime customer.
Prompt delivery excellent customer service
Love this soap
This soap lives up to it's name - Gardner's Scrub. I was given this soap as a gift and found it super useful when coming in from the garden, so I ordered more! I really like the scrubbiness!
Island thyme soaps smell so , so good . Without being overpowering.
They’re fresh and really gentle .
Its the only scented soap I don’t get skin issues from . I love how just a tiny bit gives me so many bubbles.
If you haven’t tried them yet , you absolutely should . Especially when you have sensitive skin, goat soap is fantastic .
Excited to try out this scent. Perfect for spring gardening weather. Love these soaps!
The Gardeners scrub is wonderful, it is like a multitasking soap for the senses. Smell is so good, it is just a joy to smell. The scrub cleans your hands without being harsh. The soap itself is so gentle it leaves my skin soft and not dry. I love this product and which ever room you leave it in it's like a little pick me up when you catch it's scent.
Love this product. Works well for cleaning my hands after both my gardening and art adventures. I even use on my paint brushes to condition them after use. Keeps my hands soft and smells great!
This is my go-to hand soap. Works great at removing dirt and grime while keeping skin soft. Wonderful clean smell. Packed thoughtfully, mindful of the environment. Extra fun to support a conscientious family business. YaY!
Love this scent and the sand scrubbiness 😁
I love this soap and have used it for years, especially after garden work or messy chores. It has a lovely texture and smell, so it always seems like a treat. I ordered six more bars when I saw we would be washing our hands even more frequently during the quarantine for the pandemic. So glad I did.
I tried this soap on a whim and I'm so glad I did! It has such a unique smell and the pumice really helps my hands transition from garden to house...Pacific Northwest gardeners, you know what I mean. The scent lingers after washing, which is something I've come to love about all Island Thyme soaps, and the oils that make up this bar leave my hands feeling moisurized without feeling oily. Perfect balance.
This is my favorite soap. It works really well and smells great too.
Our Process
Nature's best
We start with the highest quality flowers, herbs, and medicinals. Some, like calendula, lavender, and cucumber, come from the Island Thyme farm. Others, like St. John's Wort, are wildcrafted in Montana's Bitterroot Mountains. Others are sourced from around the world.
Time-tested recipes
All of our recipes have been developed in-house over the past 25+ years. Starting from skin-nourishing base ingredients like sweet almond oil and beeswax, we fine-tune the scent and texture.
Small batches
No industrial manufacturing here! In our commercial kitchen in the village of Eastsound on Orcas Island, our crew meticulously crafts each product in small batches for freshness and quality control.
Delivered to you
After labeling, products are ready for you, our amazingly loyal customers. Our shipping team boxes up online orders, stocks our two storefronts in Eastsound and Friday Harbor, and prepares shipments to our wholesale outlets, which include natural food stores and gift shops throughout the Pacific Northwest
